To my fellow New Yorkers, I’d like to invite you to a Salon I’m participating in this Saturday, May 10, 3-9pm at Earshot (255 Canal Street, 3rd FL) hosted by Tiny Grant.
I’m showing artwork in progress, sharing behind-the-scenes looks, and chatting about what I’m planning, my process, materials I’m playing with, what’s working…and what’s not working, HA!
A quick shout out to Lily and Lucy from Tiny Grant because I respect what they’re doing and their approach. They didn’t ask permission to do something they wanted to…they just started. Here’s a little spiel I pulled from their new grant program.
Tiny Grant is a new art grant program started by Lily and Lucy in 2025 in New York, It aims to give cash grants to artists based in New York City.
Lily and Lucy, close friends since their first week of college, are both immigrants bonded by a deep passion for the arts. Lily is a visual artist who specializes in drawing and painting, has created murals, and works professionally as a UX Program Manager in tech. Lucy is a classically trained pianist and ballerina who began performing at the age of three and has since explored other dance styles and stand-up comedy; she is also a general partner at a venture fund focused on early-stage investments in science and technology. Their personal artistic journeys and shared experiences have inspired them to create a supportive initiative for emerging artists.
They launched a six-month pilot grant program, running from January to June 2025, to support 6 artists across various creative fields, including visual, performing, and literary arts. The program is designed for artists pursuing full-time creative careers who are in significant need of support.
Grantees will receive the full grant amount at the start of the program, along with two check-ins throughout the duration, and the experience will conclude with a celebratory gathering. Lily and Lucy hope this program will offer meaningful encouragement and resources to artists navigating the challenges of building a career in the arts.

As the arts are being federally defunded on a mass scale, individual moves like these give me a little hope. Speaking of hope, I hope to see you at the salon this Saturday!
